I have recently had a lot of comments in regards to antifoul performance during the winter months. In most cases the comments have been based on lack of performance of antifoul with many citing heavy growth of fouling, lack of performance and increased fuel consumption. In most cases this has come about through lack of use of the vessel.
Antifoul performance is increased the more the boats are used. The antifoul is usually still in good condition under the fouling and can often be returned to full performance with a light waterblast.
Remember if your vessel is prospeeded, propspeed is NOT an antifoul , therefore relies on waterflow over the propspeed to release fouling.
So, your vessel should be used at least once a month for propspeed to work efficiently and to minimize the growth on your antifoul.
